DEPARTMENT "ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES "

Department of alternative energy sources carries out scientific and methodological management of work involving introduction of renewable energy sources in the fuel and energy complex, development of technologies for utilisation of new energy sources, their conversion, storage, transmission and practical utilisation in the state economy.

The Department comprises 3 sections:

  • Section of Solar Energy
  • Section of Wind Energy
  • Section of Hydrogen Energy

The main objectives of the sections are:

co-ordination of R&D, scientific expertise, development of projects and programmes related to alternative energy sources, scientific and methodological management, providing consultations and assistance in these issues, establishment of international scientific and technical links and co-operation in the area of alternative energy sources.

SECTION OF SOLAR ENERGY

Main directions of work: Organisation and assistance in realisation of methods of photoelectric, photoelectrochemical, photocatalytic, thermoelectric and thermochemical conversion of the solar energy; creation of geliotechnical devices and facilities for various purposes as well as systems of solar heating and hot water supply; technical, economic and ecological aspects of solar energy development.

SECTION OF WIND ENERGY

Main directions of work: Organisation of work for development of wind-energy installations and facilities for different purposes, development of wind-accumulating technologies and devices and methods of conversion of wind energy and its utilisation for self-sufficient and centralised energy sources; complex optimisation of wind-energy systems; assessment of economic and ecological consequences from functioning of wind-energy systems.

SECTION OF HYDROGEN ENERGY

The main directions of work: Organisation and providing assistance in practical implementation of theoretic works on production, storage and utilisation of synthetic energy carriers; system analysis of high-scale production and usage of hydrogen and hydrogen-based synthetic fuels in different fields of the state economy; analysis of technical, economic and ecological factors of the hydrogen energy generation.
