OBJECTIVES
AND FUNCTIONS
OF THE INTERNATIONAL ECOENERGY ACADEMY
The International
Ecoenergy Academy (I
E A) is an independent scientific-technical and public
organisation. It is supported by the national and regional scientific
centres throughout the world on the basis of voluntary collective and
individual membership.
The Academy has
over 250 members from many institutions in Azerbaijan, Caspian region
and other parts of the world.
Main
Objectives:
- Research in
fundamental and applied problems associated with energy development
and functioning of energy systems, with the environmental problems of
utilisation of the natural resources and economic issues of the rational
use of the natural and manpower resources;
- Promotion of
a wider application of renewable energy sources with the aim to increase
their part in the integral fuel and energy complex;
- R & D work aimed
at finding solutions to the environmental problems caused by the fuel
and energy complex;
- Establishment,
implementation and practice of the highest ecological standards during
the reorganisation of the Caspian region's economy and industry;
- All-round research
in pollution of atmosphere by various emissions and environmental assessment;
- Development
and implementation of international projects jointly with foreign academic
centres, companies and non-governmental organisations;
- Co-ordination
of scientific research, provision of expert scientific examination,
development of projects and programmes related to problems of Energy,
Ecology, Economy;
The
International Ecoenergy Academy participates in a number of major intergovernmental
and Republic programmes aimed at:
- Formulation
of a concept of development of the fuel and energy complex of Azerbaijan
Republic;
- Discovery and
development of oil, gas and gas-condensate fields with complicated recovery
of the reserves;
- Development of
effective methods and means of control for the electro-energy system
ensuring a high level of its reliability , organisational structure
and economics;
- Designing a
complex of a wind-energy equipment to supply offshore oil platforms
using automated control systems and optimising energy consumption;
- Studies of the
radio-ecological situation on the Absheron Peninsula caused by development
of the oil fields and taking measures to protect the local population
from effects of the ionising radiation;
- Studies of the
hydro-chemical conditions and main Caspian pollutants with the purpose
to determine the bio-productivity and its changes under the influence
of the raising sea level and pollution of the Caspian;
- Diagnostics,
systematisation of data and re-cultivation of the lands contaminated
by various products of a technogenic origin;
- Development of
technological procedures for treatment of the oil-contaminated effluents
as well as for softening and desalination of the produced water;
- Development and
practical implementation of scientific and technical solutions for corrosion
control and protection of the oil, gas, and gas condensate pipelines
from the internal and external corrosion.
The
main scientific and technical programmes worked out by IEA in the said
areas are:
- Basics of Azerbaijan
energy development till 2010
- The use of solar
collectors to provide power supply
- Feasibility study
of wind-electric conversion systems for offshore oil platforms in Azerbaijan
- Automated energy
supply, conditioning and regular microclimate controlling systems
- Environmental
research into the Caspian sea
- Preliminary research
and monitoring of water birds' population in oil polluted zones
- Radioecological
situation assessment on the Absheron peninsula caused by oil field exploration
and development
- Key directions
of Azerbaijan national scientific-production and complex programme "Radon"
for 1998-2010 years
- Remediation of
Absheron oil contaminated soils
- Toxico-radioecological
situation assessment and monitoring during oil and gas fields' development
in the Caspian Contract area
- Removing barriers
in use of channels and irrigation reservoirs hydro resources for energy
generation in Azerbaijan through small hydro power plants
- Protection of
population from harmful impact of radon (gas) and radionuclides
